ESD Foundation
ESD is the premier bilingual school in the DR. Using European curricula, it focuses on academic excellence.
ESD Foundation provides scholarships to local ‘bright stars’ who might otherwise miss out on a quality education.
Since ESD was founded in 2020 it has set aside up to ten percent of its places at each grade for disadvantaged local ‘bright stars’.
The top prizes – a full scholarship – are obviously prestigious, and the competition for places is understandably fierce: not all children who apply are accepted.
As well, a high ongoing academic standard is expected from all our scholars: because graduation and scholarship renewal are not automatic.
ESD has created an arms-length non-profit Foundation to vet applicants, grant scholarships and monitor scholars’ progress.
A single scholarship is worth in excess of US$5,000 per year. Many of our current parents value those classroom and social interactions, and support the Foundation financially in its efforts to fund scholarships.
MISSION
- To grant scholarships to worthy local disadvantaged children to help them flourish at ESD, and beyond.
- To grow, inform and illuminate our ‘Friends of ESDF’ so that we may better serve those disadvantaged local children .
